Tems , Tyla and Ayra Starr have proven repeatedly that they're the new Afrobeats Royalties ,with TEMS leading Africa with the highest Spotify streams of 40 million ,Tyla being signed to HYBE and Ayra Starr making her first appearance in a novel adapted Hollywood film. These girls are reshaping African music as we know it 

TEMS 

TEMS has made history as the African artist with the most monthly listeners , peaking at 44 million as of April 2026 and is the first female artist to have over 5 billion career streams

She identifies as not just an afrobeats artist, but also an R&B artist too , winning 2 Grammys so far

TYLA 

Tyla has proven to be one of Africa's biggest talent so far , touring continents like Asia ,she keeps breaking walls as a south African artist living in a continent dominated by Nigerian artists.

Tyla identifies her music as pop-piano ,a word she coined to differentiate herself from the stereotyping of all African music.

With 2 Grammys, she's paving the way for Ghanian artist like  moliy who's also a rising star in Ghana

AYRA STARR 

Ayra Starr rose to fame at 19 years with hits spanning across Africa and Europe. Songs like rush ,beggie beggie and bloody Samaritan, she became famous earlier than Tyla and Tems ,who both are now flourishing at the same pace.

Ayra Starr performed her first global citizen award at 21 years old in Paris ,she was the first woman in years to win a mobo award category ,and she did it again. 

Ayra Starr identifies her music as Afro-pop ,now more that she's signed to roc nation.

These queens lead Africa with the highest streams and engagement (right beside Rema), from being invited and performing in fashion weeks ,to appearing in Coachella and global citizens, they make Burna Boy ,Davido and Wizkid's monthly streams look really small.

THEIR FAN-BASE BEEF

Tyla and Ayra have been friends way before the Fame .they both performed at a concert in Nigeria.

Since the blow-up of water by Tyla, the whole world was dancing , including Nigeria, but no fanbase was created in Nigeria till Ayra Starr and Tyla released "girl next door", making mobstars become Tygers aswell ,mainly becuz Tyla and Ayra dressing styles and dance steps were oddly identical.

Suddenly, Tyla is doing tours and performing in big events and getting massive viewing and streaming counts from all her songs and Nigeria became upset about it .Mobstars started blaming Ayra for featuring her in her song .netizens started comparing and trying to accuse the other of copying the other , making Tyla and Ayra showing together in public a massive problem. Tyla winning a Grammy and Ayra winning a MOBO made the comparison much more.

Pple tried comparing Tems and Tyla but it didn't last because even Tyla says Tems is her idol and they even made a song together "Number 1".

Both have 2 Grammys and a rising fandom. Both have almost different audiences but only Tems has a massive amount of streamers from her country (Nigeria) while South Africa only use Tyla to brag but claim she isn't making music that her pple would enjoy.

Tems and Ayra have had the whole west Africa thinking they were sisters. With their mothers being best friends and their occasional meetings at football matches and concerts ,they are more of friends than music rivals ...both have separate audience and zero beefs.

Pple would keep refering to these stars as the new big three in Africa as they keep breaking stereotypes involving global reaches and spots.
